Social Space – 5 Tips For Business Collaboration When Coworking In Auckland

Collaboration, in recent years, has created some of the greatest innovation. In the coworking space, collaboration is one of the many perks that comes from coworking. More than just combining work effort to create an attractive product, the collaboration is one way to strengthen skills and learn more.

Coworking in Auckland recognises the value of collaboration within the coworking space, as the surge in the number of spaces is a key indicator that this platform works. In fact, all of the work of networking and getting to know other professionals can culminate in the collaboration, and for Aucklanders who are typically known as easy-going businessmen (and women), the collaboration can be the perfect way to introduce their venture to the business community. Collaboration, when done skillfully, can produce great innovation.

Let’s take a closer look at how coworking can lead to collaboration success in Auckland.

Be Choosy

The coworking platform is such that it creates a convivial environment where friendships can be the beginning of great relationships. However, while your coworking mate might be a great person to talk about industry ins and outs or your personal life, they might not always be the best person with whom to collaborate. Having a good relationship is great and can only add to a collaboration, but it should not be the only determining factor in team building.

When looking to collaborate, focus on the skills that will ultimately get the job done. Skilled team members can make the process of completing a project go smoothly simply because they have the know-how, and while it is important to get along with others on a team, expertise is a very valuable quality when trying to launch a product. Not that you have to comb through resumes, but before committing on a project, you should look at prospective team members’ portfolio.

Have An Agenda

In the initial stages, create an agenda that is fluid enough to be revised if necessary. Your agenda gives your project direction, and it provides you with milestones that can keep you on task. Your agenda should include goals and objectives, and if really organised, will have a timeline when tasks should be completed. Expect delays, but holding the group accountable to completing tasks related to the project in a timely manner can give the project structure.

Focus On Strengths

Through the course of working on the collaboration, everyone gets a sense of how strengths are distributed among group members. Delegate responsibility by allowing those who have greater strengths to take the lead on particular tasks. You do not necessarily silence your voice, but delegating responsibility allows the group to get the project completed more efficiently. Important decisions will have to be made by the group, but not all of them require the approval of every team member.

But Be Honest

The collaboration is business, and in this environment, it is appropriate for team members to ask questions or raise concerns. If you are not satisfied with a particular decision, designate time with team members to present your concerns while listening to theirs. The conversation should be a professional, non-threatening one that ends in some type of resolution that does not involve you storming out of the meeting room. The point is to be open.

Respect Your Fellow Collaborators

Even at the height of disgust, it is difficult to be objective. The tendency is to engage in behaviours that are rude and disrespectful. Remember, at some point, you felt the offending team member was a good choice, so draw on that when interacting with team members with whom you are unhappy.

Best Collaboration Tips

The best collaborations are born from teams that understand that collaboration is work. They also understand that many great products come from the frustration, aggravation, and conversely, cooperation that goes with working into teams. By paying attention to the above tips, your team can navigate any difficult collaboration.
