The term “nonprofit” can be misleading to many. Yes, these organizations don’t want to make money, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need resources. Every nonprofit organization requires funds to manage their regular work and serve their core mission. There are diverse options for nonprofit fundraising, but most of them don’t really work in a practical way.

In this post, we’ve listed the best strategies that may work for your fundraising plan.

  1. Sell what you can. Many nonprofits are making considerable money by selling things made by their staff members. This is one of the economical ways of generating a stable amount every month, as long as you have products that can sell and the space to set up a shop. Recurring revenue is always useful for such organizations, and therefore finding a way to sell is always better.
  2. Use direct mail. Your donors are still interested in knowing about the cause and mission of your foundation, and it’s always better to contact them directly. Using mail as a solution to fundraising is not a new idea, but it always works. You can always find ways to connect with donors at a personal level by way of mail, because it creates a direct impact.
  3. Offer memberships. Not all nonprofits can offer memberships, but if you can, always consider that idea. Many organizations have regular donors, but contacting them every now and then is probably not a clever idea. With yearly memberships, you’re assured of getting a fixed amount from each donor.
  4. Organize an event. At times, it’s important to spread about your nonprofit’s mission and work. For that, events work perfectly. Yes, a considerable amount is involved in the process, and you might need to spend a tad more for your donors, but there’s a high chance that you’ll get more than expected. Events can be annual, or you can plan the dates according to the organization’s timeline.
  5. Launch a new initiative. If you’re keen on targeting new donors and want to get the attention of your existing donors, it’s wise to launch a new initiative that has some relevance to your organization. This allows your nonprofit to spread its wings, and at the same time, you’ll get a considerable amount from new donations that can be used for other tasks, as well.

Finally, be relevant and regular. It’s hard to run an organization that survives on donor’s money, but to keep the wheels rolling, you may have to give a little more effort at every step. If possible, hire an agency that can manage your fundraising needs in a more professional manner, and more often than not, you can expect to get a discount for the work they do. Check online now to find direct mail services, and to plan an event, consider the next best date. After all, it may take a while to plan every single aspect. Also, involve your staff and donors in the planning process to get more input.
